"An unparalleled fusion of sound, where jazz meets soul and everything in between"
Asanabenche is a Boston-based quartet born from the deep camaraderie of four lifelong friends with roots spanning Los Angeles, Dominica, Wyoming, and Los Altos. What began as casual jams between Jacob and Anderson soon grew into a dynamic musical collective with Ninaad and Sawyer rounding out the lineup. Together, they’ve created a unique sound they proudly call Bird Music: a flavorful fusion of jazz, funk, soul, Latin, and reggae.
Their music is a sonic adventure that refuses to be confined to a single genre. Drawing inspiration from artists like Cory Henry, Kokoroko, and Vulfpeck, Asanabenche crafts infectious grooves and bold compositions, seamlessly blending their diverse influences into a signature sound that resonates across audiences. Whether it's melodic riffs, intricate rhythms, or their hallmark playful energy, their music always keeps listeners engaged.
The band’s name was born serendipitously while sitting on a bench outside a Cory Henry concert, brainstorming their future. The bench seemed to provide the answer they were seeking, and Asanabenche was born. This serendipity carries through their music: playful yet profound, unstructured yet masterfully executed.
Asanabenche has brought their distinctive sound to sold-out venues across the globe, including performances with Untitled Boston, Valencia’s Black Note Club, and New York City’s iconic Rockwood Music Hall. Their live performances are nothing short of electric, offering an unforgettable experience that captivates and energizes.
For those seeking something fresh, unexpected, and joyously unclassifiable, Asanabenche is a name to watch. Dive into their musical world and discover a groove like no other.
An open-air concerts series result of the fruitful collaboration between the City of Arts and Sciences and Berklee Valencia. The concerts take place from April to July and from September to October in front of the Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe.
